Baked Beans with Ground Beef (1)

I love a good baked bean recipe, especially when they really don’t take a lot of effort to make, that is exactly what these Baked Beans with Ground Beef are.

These make the perfect side dish to any of your favorite grilling recipes, or main dishes that you want to serve this summer.

Using pork and beans is my trick, some love them and some hate them. But I’m on the absolute love side.

With all the ingredients combined, you have a meaty, bean flavor with some sweetness as well.

This recipe is so easy, you pretty much just mix everything together, place in a baking pan and bake in the oven.

If easy recipes are what you are looking for, then you are in luck! You need to add these Baked Beans with Ground Beef to your menu ASAP!

HOW SHOULD I COOK THE BEANS?

You can cook as said on the label of the can. We usually make them on the stovetop.

If you have more time, you can warm up your beans in the slow cooker on high for 1 hour as well.

CAN I USE ANOTHER MEAT?

Absolutely, ground beef and beans just go so well together so it is always our go-to meat for this recipe.

If you want to use another meat you can use ground chicken, ground pork, ground turkey or even italian sauasge.

CAN I BAKE THIS IN A 9X13-INCH PAN?

If you do not own a cast iron skillet, you can absolutely place these Baked Beans with Ground Beef in a 9×13-inch baking dish.

This will make no difference in the outcome of the recipe. We just like using the cast iron skillet as we try to use it as much as we can.

WHAT KIND OF BBQ SAUCE SHOULD I USE?

This is a personal preference on the flavor, I use just regular BBQ sauce for this recipe so the other flavors can shine through.

If you want a sweeter version use brown sugar BBQ sauce, or if you want a spicier version you can use a sweet and spicy.

I say play around with flavors until you absolutely find the combination that you love.

HOW TO STORE:

These can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to 4-5 days.

I do not recommend freezing this recipe as the texture of beans after freezing is not the best.

To reheat, place in the microwave until heated through or place back in the oven at 350 degrees F until heated through.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • You can easily double this recipe if you’d like.
  • Use other meats, see above for some ideas.
  • We like to use pork and beans, but you can switch up your beans to get other flavors.
  • Switch up your BBQ sauce to also change the flavor, see above for some options.
  • You can use precooked bacon if you’d like.
  • Instead of a cast iron skillet you can make these in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Feel free to add any other ingredients that you think would work well in this recipe such as chopped peppers, cayenne pepper (if you want spicy), etc.
  • I do not suggest freezing this recipe.
  • Try to use lean ground beef, we like 93%.
