Reflecting on recent experiences, I've come to understand the reality of 'quiet firing' firsthand. Quiet firing involves employers intentionally worsening workplace environments to drive employees to quit. It's a subtle yet harmful form of termination, one that can profoundly impact both career trajectory and mental well-being.Navigating through this challenging experience has not only deepened my understanding of workplace dynamics but also fortified my resilience and adaptability, qualities essential in the fast-paced world of Public Relations. It's empowered me with firsthand insights into the importance of transparent communication and fair treatment in fostering a positive work environment, invaluable lessons that I'm ready to apply in my future endeavors in PR.As I embark on this new chapter, I am actively seeking fresh opportunities where I can leverage my skills and experiences in PR. If you're aware of any openings or opportunities that align with my background, I would greatly appreciate your assistance in connecting me with them. Let's collaborate and explore how we can create meaningful contributions together in the dynamic field of public relations!

A week and a half ago, I learned my position was eliminated, along with my boss’ and three peers’ positions. It’s bittersweet, but I’ve been here before and I’m ready to start a new chapter. The outpouring of appreciation and support from my former team has made me realize the impact I’ve had as a leader through my behaviors, actions, and words. They shared how much they learned just from listening to how I approached situations and problems, felt supported when I would advocate for them, seen my effort to help them grow their careers, and been an “awesome example” of how to be an empathetic manager. The reason I made the transition from designer to design manager is because I wanted to help designers grow and flourish in the enterprise. It’s not an easy job and some days are really tough, but feeling appreciated makes it worthwhile. No one gives you the manual when you become a manager, you craft your management style based on both the great and not-so-great managers you’ve had throughout your career. I’m thankful for the great managers I've had throughout my career, like Susan Michael Sørensen and Joy Busse, who have been role models of support and servant leadership. So, onwards to the next chapter. I know the market is extremely competitive, but if you know of any open design director positions please let me know. I’d be happy to bring all my empathy, support, and leadership to help designers grow and deliver great outcomes for customers and the business.

It's been 48 hours since my layoff, and I'm already feeling a bit restless. Dealing with uncertainty about when I'll land another role is challenging; it could take months.I tend to equate my success with my current employment status, even though I know it doesn't define me entirely. When society often measures success by income or job title, it's tough to maintain self-esteem during unemployment. What strategies have helped you during the transition from being employed to unemployed, especially with all this newfound free time?In the past 48 hours, I've been glued to my computer, searching for potential job opportunities. Is it advisable to continue this intense job search, like an 8-hour-a-day routine?I'd greatly appreciate any advice or insights you've gained from similar experiences. Perhaps I'm taking it particularly hard because it's my first time facing this situation, and I never expected it to happen.
