Thomas C. Springfield, 70, a retired mechanic at Nabisco who served on the company's credit union board, died Saturday at Nazareth Hospital. He was a longtime resident of Northeast Philadelphia. Born in South Philadelphia, Mr. Springfield attended South Philadelphia High School.

He went on to serve in the Army, starting in 1937 and continuing through World War II, when he was stationed in Europe. Mr. Springfield worked for Nabisco 26 years and served on its credit union's board of directors for 10 years. He retired in 1982. Survivors: his wife, Kathryn Eells Springfield; daughters, Patricia Shockley and Kathleen Burns; six grandchildren, two brothers and four sisters.

Waverly B. Woodson 86, of Germantown, a retired employee of the Postal Service, died Thursday at Chestnut Hill Hospital. Mr. Woodson was born in Richmond, and moved with his famto Philadephia in 1916. He was a 1919 graduate of Central High School.

During and his high school years, he worked in the familyowned business, the Woodson Hotel, one of the city's first black-owned hotels. Mr. Woodson went to work for 1 the Postal Service after graduating and retired in 1961. He married the former E. Louise Baxter in 1920 and they had two sons, one of whom, Eugene died in 1984.

Mr. Woodson was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Annunciation, where he served 1 for many years as rector's warden and chairman of the vestry. Survivors: his wife, E. Louise; son, Waverly seven grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two sisters. Services were yesterday.

Edward Winslow Taylor 3d, 67, a retired schoolteacher and soccer coach who taught at five East Coast private schools, died Saturday at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center. He lived in Bryn Mawr. Mr. Taylor taught history and Spanish at Germantown Academy from 1957 to 1962. He also taught at the Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, Avon Old Farms in Avon, the Gulfstream School in Gulfstream, and Gulliver Academy in Coral Gables, Fla.

He was a teacher from 1946 until he retired in 1969. Mr. Taylor. was a volunteer at the Chestnut Hill Hospital and was a Township, died Thursday at Zurbrugg Hospital, Riverside.
