For a few years now, I’ve been sharing recipes made with Sunsweet Prunes because they are a staple in my household. Other recipes with prunes include my Fudgy Brownies, Chicken with Prunes and Sage, to a Chocolate Smoothie Bowl, they help me add a touch of sweetness to my recipes, as well as essential vitamins, minerals and added fiber.

I’ve also shared a delicious recipe for Sweet and Sour Turkey Meatballs made with Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice as an alternative way to get more flavor out of a terrific recipe without adding sugar. Using ingredients that add nutrition to my meals helps me stay healthy.

I can talk about food ALL day long but today I want to shift that focus because it’s not always about what we eat, but what we drink.

Prune Juice Smoothie Recipe + Healthy Benefits (5)

Unlike most other fruit juices which are loaded with empty calories and tons of sugar, prune juice actually packs a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need. With that being said, let’s go a little further into the benefits of prune juice and why I incorporate it into my daily health routine.

Benefits of Prune Juice

Prune juice is one of the more nutritious fruit juices, made from fresh plums, it packs a lot of amazing benefits. Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice has no added sugars and each serving provides 5 essential vitamins, minerals, including 3 grams of fiber to help balance and maintain your digestive health to help you feel your best. These essential vitamins include potassium, riboflavin, vitamin B6, copper, and niacin.

With 3 grams of fiber per serving, prune juice also includes digestive properties which plays an important role in our gut’s microbiome.

Prune Juice Nutrition

I’ve been purchasing Sunsweet Amaz!n Prune Juice for years because their prunes come from high quality fruit and is packed with key nutrients. If you’ve ever opened a bag of Sunsweet Prunes, you’ve noticed that their dried fruit is plump, juicier, and it just tastes better. And their prune juice, of course, is made from delicious fresh plums.

If sugar intake is a concern, PlumSmart Light is made from a special variety of fresh, juicy plums, and it has 3 grams of fiber and 60 calories per serving -and has 60% less calories and sugar than other leading juice co*cktails, which makes it a great alternative to full sugar beverages.

How Much Prune Juice Should I Drink to get the Benefits?

One serving of prune juice is 1 cup, that’s 8 ounces. You can start small, at 4 ounces and then go up to a full serving.

When Should I drink prune Juice?

I like to drink my prune juice in the morning; either in a glass with my breakfast or in a smoothie like this one.

I added a tbsp maple syrup, a tsp of vanilla extract, omitted the ice and chia seeds and subbed half a block of firm tofu. This turned out so good! Thanks for the idea.

I am very confused with the portion size. I made mine with 1 cup prune juice and all other ingredients as listed. My blender could not hold it all. But it yielded much more than 1 cup. Am I supposed to measure out 1 cup? Or is it ok for me to drink my full blender cup?

This full blender yields 4 servings.
