This standard zoom lens has a focal length of 24mm-64mm (35mm film camera equivalent) and covers the entire range from wide-angle to standard range. It can be used for a wide range of situations, from group photos in a small room with limited space to landscapes and snapshots on a trip.

- Compact and lightweight lens with 2-step retractable body mechanism
Compared to the existing LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm retractable lens, the LUMIX G X VARIO PZ 14-42mm has been made smaller for even greater portability. The lens barrel has a small diameter of 55.5mm and is equipped with a manual two-stage retractable mechanism, achieving a compact overall length of 24mm* when the lens is retracted. The lens is also lightweight, weighing only about 70g, despite its metal exterior.

- Unique lens drive motor that realizes high-precision, high-speed contrast AF
High-speed, high-precision contrast AF at 240 fps is supported. A screw-integrated stepping motor is used in the drive system. The screw integrated with the motor shaft moves the focus lens directly without the use of relay gears or cams, resulting in precise, low-loss, and quiet AF operation.

- Advanced optical image stabilization compensates for camera shake even at telephoto distances.
The camera is equipped with MEGA Optical Image Stabilization (MEGA O.I.S.), which detects and reduces camera shake within the lens. A dedicated LSI built in to enhance correction accuracy processes the gyro sensor output 4,000 times per second at high speed to accurately compensate for even the slightest blur. Unlike the body's built-in image stabilizer, the effect of the correction can be checked on the monitor, allowing the photographer to compose the shot as intended. The image stabilization unit is equipped with a newly developed compact, high-output actuator, which has been downsized without compromising the correction effect.

The metal exterior of the lens barrel and mount gives the LUMIX GM a chic and dignified feel that matches the camera's body, giving it a luxurious design.

- High-contrast rendering all the way to the periphery of the image
The lens construction consists of 8 elements in 7 groups (3 aspherical lens elements and 1 ED lens element). The three aspherical lens elements are optimally positioned to achieve high resolution. In addition, the ED (Extra-low Dispersion) lens thoroughly suppresses chromatic aberration, which can cause color blurring and loss of contrast. The lens delivers high contrast and excellent image rendering performance with good fluidity right up to the periphery of the image.
